While disk may be cheap and plentiful for home users, it is not trivial to install new hard drives in running servers. To that end, disk usage at Monkeycosm.net is restricted.
Quotas
Instead of imposing hard limits (which could result in data loss), quotas are set as soft limits. This soft limit is your quota. If you over your soft limit, you will get daily warning emails. If this happens, please either delete stuff or talk with an admin about your quota.
The starting quotas are set at 16GB.
Use the command “quota -s” to see your quota and how much disk space you are currently using.
Backups
Daily backups are performed using Jungledisk. They are not for the casual use by users, but if you lose something important, get in touch with the admins promptly and they will attempt to help.
