Monkeycosm.net Support: Apache Log files and AWStats

All about your domain's raw Apache log files and the AWStat's environment run by Monkeycosm.net.

Where are my logs?

The raw log files for your website are located at ~username/domainname/logs/. Log files are rotated monthly (with the oldest log files ending with the largest number. 12 total log files are kept. If you wish another cycle, please ask the admins. Do not move access_log or error_log, or you will lose log information until you are able to get an admin to restart the webserver. Log files will become owned by your username when they are rotated.

Where are my webstats?

Monkeycosm.net maintains a local installation of AWStats for each domain hosted. Log files from the webserver are parsed hourly and the statistics can be viewed at any time.

To view the statistics for your domain, you will first need to set a password with the command "htpasswd ~username/domainname/configfiles/awstats.htpasswd username". Than go to http://domainname/awstats/awstats.pl and enter your username and password. While it is possible for you to change the username (or add additional ones), you will need to request of the admins that that username be granted permission within awstats.

A link to the config file used for your domain is located at ~username/domainname/configfiles/awstatsconfig. The default config should be fine for most people. If you wish changes made to the defaults, read the inline comments in the config file and ask the admins to make the changes.

Please do NOT make this awstats interface available to the public, it is fairly resource intensive and is easily abused. If for some reason you wish to make your statistics available to the public, you should setup your own config of awstats to generate static html files.
